Win two tickets to the Cereals Event!
Cereals Event - 10th to the 11th June 2020.
Farm machinery and equipment is advancing at an incredible rate – and visitors to the Cereals Event will be able to see the latest technology in action, with many UK debuts.
Among those making their first entrance onto the UK stage will be Lemken’s new trailed sprayer, the Orion. “Field sprayers with tank volumes between 4,000 and 6,000 litres are very much in demand among farmers and contractors,” says general manager Paul Creasy. “What they want most are ease of operation, excellent flushing performance and a boom control that consistently maintains the optimal distance to the crop.”
The Orion comes with an aluminium boom with working widths from 24m to 39m and numerous features for customised configuration. “We’ve exhibited at Cereals for many years – it gives us the showcase and shop window for the farming public,” says Mr Creasy. “We see a good mix of farming businesses from around the country at the event. And talking to farmers in June lines us up nicely for the autumn season.”
Lemken will also be bringing its new mounted plough, the Juwel 10, and Steketee precision hoeing equipment, and will be demonstrating in the Syngenta Sprays & Sprayers Arena, says Mr Creasy. “Cereals is the only platform we have to show machines off in the Arena.”
The spraying demonstrations are always a popular draw, and John Deere will be showcasing the R4150i self-propelled sprayer with the new ExactApply nozzle system featuring state-of-the-art pulse width modulation technology,
Making their UK show debut will be John Deere’s range-topping 7R 330 and four-track 8RX 410 tractors, while visitors will also be able to see the new season T- and S-Series combines, which offer easier operation and increased throughput, automation and connectivity. The John Deere stand will once again feature Mazzotti self-propelled sprayers and Kramer telescopic handlers and wheel loaders.
Another firm to look out for the in Sprays & Sprayers Arena is Amazone, with its recently launched Pantera 4503 self-propelled sprayer, which promotes responsible agrochemical use. “The Pantera 4503 limits spray drift and enables targeted applications of agrochemicals over blanket spraying,” says managing director Simon Brown. “This piece of kit is recently launched so it hasn’t been seen at Cereals before, and we are looking forward to the new sprayer arena layout at this year’s event.”
The theme for the Amazone stand this year will be less disturbance drilling, and visitors will be keen to see the Primera 6000-2 direct drill and Cirrus minimum till disc drill. “These types of drill complement the change towards less disturbance drilling,” says Mr Brown. “Weed control is improved by reducing disturbance to the soil and helps prevent the flushes of weeds from renewed germination of seeds brought to the surface.
“We have been exhibiting at the Cereals Event for many years – since its early days –because it puts our customers in front of us,” he adds. “We get to speak to the decision makers and build on relationships face-to-face with both our established customers and new ones too.”
Horsch always has a wide variety of drills, cultivators and sprayers on offer, and this year will be no different, says the firm’s Stephen Burcham. “I think professional farmers go to Cereals and these are our core customers. We have tried to do different things on the stand over the past two to three years, such as trial plots, to encourage the customers along to get technical advice from us.”
For those in the market for a high-performance new tractor, McCormick will be bringing its new X7.264 to look at. Extending the variable transmission range into the six-cylinder market, this 240HP tractor was a finalist in the Tractor of the Year competition 2020, and is in strong demand despite not being released until later this year, says the firm’s Rachael Walshaw.
“This is a high horsepower tractor with all of the modern technology that a farmer could need. We need to be at the Cereals Event because that’s where our key customers will be.”
Whether they’re in the market for a new tractor, combine, sprayer or cultivator, visitors will have plenty to compare among machinery exhibitors including Fendt, New Holland, Berthoud Sprayers, Claydon Drills and Opico. For the full range of exhibitors visit www.cerealsevent.co.uk/exhibitors.
