Farm tour and workshop showcase on-farm innovation and barriers to adoption
The UK Agri-Tech Centre is running a farm walk and Farm Innovations Workshop in collaboration with the Hayward family at Cold Harbour Farm in Bishop Burton, Beverley, East Yorkshire HU17 8JF, on Tuesday, 3 June from 10am-3.30pm.
The insightful tour will be led by the Hayward family, including demonstrations of the latest innovations in the agricultural sector.
Through various talks, demonstrations and an interactive workshop, this event explores the latest from across the sector and discusses on-farm innovation and the current barriers to adoption.
Visitors to the event will learn about a number of different on-farm technologies, the role of data connectivity and the impact of innovation adoption on farm, led by various speakers including:
• Craig Patrickm Senior Knowledge Exchange Manager at AHDB
• Paul Lindop, Business Development Manager at Ver Facil – on-farm data connectivity
• Clive Blacker, Agrivation – Exatrek Data Loggers
• Oliver Taylor, Taylored Agri – Yara N-Sensors and Crop Scan
• Katherine Wotherspoon, Innovation Lead in Strategic Impact at the UK Agri-Tech Centre – impact of innovation adoption on farm
This will be followed by an interactive workshop, led by the UK Agri-Tech Centre’s Knowledge Exchange Manager, Sarah Nightingale, where you will have the opportunity to identify and highlight gaps in the development and adoption of on-farm innovation, engaging in conversations around possible solutions with the UK’s leading agri-tech organisation and innovative agri-tech companies.

Adam Hayward, who owns Cold Harbour Farm in partnership with his family, said: “I think the benefit that new technology can bring is vast and the support that is available reduces the risk and cost of giving something different or untested a go on your own conditions with hopefully having a positive outcome."
Ross Robertson, Farm Technology Specialist at the UK Agri-Tech Centre, said: “Through various forms of dissemination and Knowledge Exchange workshops, we can get farmers and end users involved to help co-develop innovations from the drawing board through to commercialisation.
“This early-stage engagement can really help solve problems and fill where there are gaps in the market, leading to the adopting of technology.”
